The City of Cape Town’sLansdowne Clinic will be closed from Tuesday January 24 until Friday February 24 to allow for an essential upgrade of the floor.
Services will continue at the Honeyside satellite clinic, on the corner of Belgravia and Honeyside roads, Athlone, during this time.
Maintenanceand re-tiling will take place at the Lansdowne clinic.
“This primary health-care facility has a community-oriented programme aimed at improving the health and well-being of families in the Lansdowne and Flamingo areas. The community has been informed of the upcoming closure on a daily basis when they visited the clinic and posters advising of the closure were put up at businesses and in the community. Regular clients who are currently on treatment were informed telephonically.
“Residents can also make use of other clinics within their areas. For example, residents from Hanover Park can visit the Hanover Park clinic,” said the City’s mayoral committee member for area central, Siyabulela Mamkeli.
While the clinic serves the Lansdowne area, the 2 200 monthly clients also come from Hanover Park, Ottery, Kenwyn and the industrial areas in the suburb. The clinic’s services include women’s health, curative services, immunisation, a wellness clinic, outreach programmes and interventions in schools.
“During this month-long upgrade, the entire floor of the facility will be redone,” said Mr Mamkeli.
The upgrade will just over R94 000 and will make it easier to clean the floors and limit the spread of infection.
