Two Goodwood officers caught a suspected car hijacker after responding to a call on the police radio.
Constables Tammy-Lee Hearn and Samuel Duikers were on patrol on Sunday July 17 when they heard an alert at 10pm about a hijacked Toyota Avanza being pursued by Milnerton police.
The officers drove towards Jakes Gerwel Drive and, spotting the Avanza, gave chase.
Goodwood police spokesman Captain Waynne Theunis said the driver ignored requests to pull over and sped off, jumping several red lights. Then at a red light in Langa, the man jumped out and fled on foot, but Constable Duikers caught him.
The 27-year-old man appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday July 19 on a charge of hijacking.
