Manenberg SAPS, its Youth Desk, the Community Police Forum (CPF) and the neighbourhood watch hosted a holiday programme, from Monday October 3 to Friday October 7.
The children were invited to the SAPS parking area where officers hosted educational talks and played games with them.
On Tuesday October 4, they were joined by Safe Schools coordinators for a hike along Muizenberg.
The Youth Desk also invited 30 youths of Sector 3 to visit Manenberg SAPS for career guidance. They were taken on a tour of the station, including the Victim Support Room as well as the holding cells. They were also addressed on gender-based violence (GBV) and bullying.
According to Manenberg SAPS spokesperson, Captain Ian Bennett, this experience helped the children have a better understanding of the work of SAPS and showed them that they should not be afraid of police officers.
