Killers sought after fatal gang shooting in Rylands

Manenberg police has opened an inquest docket after the body of a 35 to 40- year-old woman was found in an abandoned building in Jonkershoek Road, Heideveld, on Sunday, May 11, at around 7pm.

An inquest has been opened to determine the cause of death, said the station’s spokesman Captain Ian Bennett.

Athlone police are looking for two men who shot and killed an 18-year-old man on Friday, May 8, in Mohan Road, Rylands, at 2pm.

According to the station’s spokeswoman Sergeant Zita Norman, the deceased who had been sitting along the road, crossed the road to ask his friend for a lighter when two men approached him, fired several shots and fled the scene.

The men were wearing white shirts and one gunman had on a pair of sunglasses.

The deceased sustained gunshot wounds to his face. Four cartridges were found on the scene. According to Sergeant Norman, the deceased was an IGB gang member.

She said the motive for the murder was a gang war between the IGB and the Hard Livings gangs.
