Sataar Parker, Gatesville Mosque
The Gatesville Mosque welcomes the holy month of Ramadaan this year with the theme “Limited gatherings, unlimited spirituality and compassion”.
Ramadaan is the most sacred month for the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims.
It is also the month in which the first verses of the holy Qur’an were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
The mosque will adhere strictly to the Covid-19 protocols - including allowing only 250 people in the mosque.
The various programmes during this month will be broadcast live on the mosque’s dedicated smartphone app as well as media platforms like YouTube and Facebook to thousands of people worldwide.
At a social-responsibility level, the usual food-parcels programme, as well as the “light up a destitute home in Ramadaan” and an outreach programme for the homeless will be vigorously implemented.
The mosque is among the largest in the country with a congregation base of over 6 000 people.
On behalf of the imams , trustees and executive committee, we wish everyone a spiritually beneficial month.
