It is unbelievable to think that Eskom can even consider to ask for such a massive price increase and that Nersa (the National Energy Regulator of South Africa) can even just think about it is disgusting to say the least.
Whose fault is it that Eskom and South Africa are in such a mess? Certainly not the public’s fault. So why do we, the hard-working people of South Africa, get punished every time Eskom is in trouble? Food prices rise every day, even essential food like bread is almost unaffordable.
Many people live under the breadline and can hardly afford to buy R20 electricity, and it seems the more we pay for electricity the more load shedding we get. It just doesn't make sense.
Eskom and the government are forcing people to use candles and cook on open fires as they cannot afford to buy electricity because it's too pricey. It increases the risk of fires, but do they even care? I wonder.
