Building a stronger Bonteheuwel

Angus McKenzie, Ward 50 councillor

Bonteheuwel has reason to celebrate. I have always maintained that a safer community will result in more opportunities, more development, and more job creation.

With the latest crime statistics released, Bonteheuwel continues to move further and further away from the top-30 murder stations in both the province and nationally and slowly but surely become the safest township in the country.

It is for this reason that over the last few months we have given over 100 young people opportunities on the Green Riders programme, 20 youth jobs at a well-known sales and distribution company and 25 young people a valuable internship that will see them incorporated into our multi-million rand housing project.

In addition to this, our CBD has been rebuilt and a R1.5 million fencing project at the Metropolitan Sports Field is under way.

I must applaud and thank the people of Bonteheuwel for buying into my vision and believing that indeed Bonteheuwel can be proud of what it is becoming.

Our law enforcement officials and community crime fighters have played an integral part in realising this success.

In Bonteheuwel, we've ignored the noise, remained focused, and succeeded in building a stronger Bonteheuwel together.
