With an array of world-class international acts and a multitude of some of South Africa’s finest talents forming part of the artist line-up at this year’s Cape Town International Jazz Festival, #CTIJF2025 is set to be a momentous gathering with stories told through every note.
Among the line-up at the festival that is a little more than two weeks away, are world-renowned artists, Black Coffee and Nduduzo Makhathini who have a deep-rooted background in jazz that date back to their studies at Technikon Natal, in Durban and cement their shared understanding and passion for music.
World-renowned artists, Black Coffee and Nduduzo Makhathini’s performance will also feature an orchestra, horns, percussion and some very special guests singing some well-known pieces from the duet.

Their performance at the upcoming festival, taking place on Friday and Saturday April 25 and 26 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, will be the inaugural concert where the duet puts together a set that will propel audiences through various repertoires from both, ranging from known classics to newly-created bodies of work.

Other performances to look forward to are that of British acid jazz pioneers Incognito, who have been at the forefront of the genre since 1979, seamlessly blending jazz, funk, and soul; Ari Lennox who is redefining contemporary R&B with her rich, honeyed vocals; Kandace Springs who is bringing her signature blend of jazz, soul, and R&B to CTIJF 2025; Lira, whose music carries a timeless elegance; Donvino Prins, Cameron Ward, Jonathan Rubain and Kyle Shepherd – a powerhouse collective of South Africa’s most electrifying musicians; and South African ensemble The Brother Moves On whose 2022 album, $/He Who Feeds You…Owns You, received critical acclaim for its innovative approach and socio-political commentary.

There is also renowned Russian saxophonist and bandleader Igor Butman whose performances are celebrated for their technical brilliance and emotive depth, offering audiences a masterclass in contemporary jazz artistry.;Thandiswa Mazwai who seamlessly weavies Xhosa heritage with jazz, soul, and Afro-futurism; the Kyle Shepherd Trio, channeling the rich legacy of Cape jazz… and so much more.
