The Sisanda FunDaytion non-profit is appealing for public support to help vulnerable children attend the Zip Zap Circus’s Chasing Dreams performance on Saturday, July 19.

As part of its Mandela Day campaign, Sisanda is aiming to “bring 67 smiles to life” by securing 67 tickets for youth from communities such as Manenberg, Nyanga, and Gugulethu to attend the 11am show at the Zip Zap Dome in Cape Town. Tickets cost R150 each.

Based in Wynberg, Sisanda FunDaytion empowers young role models who support resilient children through the power of play.

Sisanda Foundation supports families by organising community play dates, inviting parents and children from different areas to the Manenberg community hall for games and social connection.

They also host fun days, where trained youth role models and volunteers take children on outings to places of natural beauty. In addition, the Play@Home programme places a Sisanda youth ambassador in a local home for eight weeks, helping to nurture a healthy relationship between parent and child.

“Our focus is on promoting mental health, youth empowerment, and building strong families and communities,” said co-founder and director Nicky Seymour.

“Our programmes inspire young people from the ages of 15 to 25 to become Play Ambassadors, they build life skills and become active citizens bringing joy to children and families in their communities,” she said.

Ms Seymour said their organisation provides outings that give the youth an opportunity to explore nature and places, as well as activities of interest around Cape Town.

A Zip Zap Circus experience shows our children that other young people—just like them—are being courageous, trying new skills, and learning to trust themselves and their team as they grow through performance,” she said.
