Can Verstappen equal Schumi’s record of five consecutive world titles?

The 27-year-old “Flying Dutchman Max” Verstappen will be a seat for glory this year as he gets the opportunity to chase down a fifth straight World Championship title, equalling Michael Schumacher.

Verstappen dominated the last four years, putting the likes of Lewis Hamilton in Mercedes and Ferrari in his rear view when it comes to world titles.

An ice-cool Verstappen does not enjoy the spotlight as much as his counterparts and often portrays an apex predator persona.

The “Prince of Formula 1” will have to compete against the reigning king, Hamilton, who made an earth-shattering move to Ferrari this year.

Hamilton is also vying for the gold, looking to win his eighth World Title in a Prancing Horse of all things.

Hamilton is currently tied with Schumacher at seven world titles and is also looking to make history this season.

The 27-year-old Verstappen will be joined by Liam Lawson in the Oracle Red Bull Racing RB26, while Yuki Tsunoda will be the team’s reserve.

The team recently made an appearance at the F715 social event, which featured the 2025 Red Bull car, a few rare Honda sports cars including the NSX and the DC2 Integra Type R.

Schumacher dominated the start of the century, winning the world titles in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004.

Verstappen won from 2021 and has not left off the throttle since, with hints of controversy along the way.

After using some profane language ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix last year, the FIA ordered Verstappen to perform community service as part of his punishment. The Dutch driver was unhappy with the RedBull car.

Verstappen was evidently dissatisfied with the FIA’s punishment but has yet to serve his punishment yet. He believes the FIA should focus on more important things than the occasional profanity used by drivers.

FIA regulations aside though, Verstappen has been one of the most explosive and colourful drivers to take the track in a long while. Skill, attitude and a healthy dislike for the media, everything that makes a good driver great.

The battle between Hamilton and Verstappen endured their fair share of rivalry, especially after the infamous 2021 Abu Dhabi race, but maintained a respect for each other as athletes.

No doubt, Formula 1 fans will be in for a treat this season.
