The Greater Lynfrae Civic Association Family Market had Rondebosch’s Keurboom Park buzzing on Sunday. Organiser Michelle Tayler-Smith said the turnout showed the community was prepared to support one another.
Jack Oosthuizen, 11, and Tom Bassingthwaite, 11, from Rondebosch, raised R400 from their home-made lemonade in support of the South African Guide Dog Association.Friends, Harry Farquharson, 11, and Oliver Brown, 11, from Rondebosch, sold all their cupcakes. They donated their profits to the Anti-Animal Cruelty League. Lisa Mahlangeni, 63, designs and makes these products herself.Teachers, from left, Robyn Blake, Louise Nel and Anita Reed, from the Vera School for Autistic Learners in Rondebosch, sold pupils’ hand-made products.Annastasia “Sia” Narlis, 27, runs Sia’s Rescues, a Hout Bay non-profit company that rescues and helps animals in need. Nicole Henn, 23, who has Asperger ’s syndrome, sold her paintings with the support of her mother, Lindsay Henn, 60.
