The City is accepting applications for its apprenticeship programme in the engineering and construction sectors.

The aim of the programme is to develop skills and increase the number of qualified artisans, the City said in a statement, adding that the apprentices will gain experience as mechanics, carpenters and electricians among others.

Successful candidates would be placed in various City departments, including water and sanitation, human settlements and urban waste management.

“Since 2019 a total of 56 apprentices were successful in their trade test examinations and are now qualified artisans in their respective fields. The City has since absorbed 22 of these individuals in permanent positions across the metropole,” said Theresa Uys, mayoral committee member for corporate services.

The applications close on Friday March 17. Interested applicants can visit Job Search to apply.
