Man held on gun charge

Athlone police arrested a 25- year-old man on Tuesday April 9, for the possession of an unlicensed Vector CP1 9mm gun and ammunition. The arrest followed a tip-off from residents about a man walking around with a gun and pointing it at people. Police arrested him in Voel Street, Belgravia Estate, at 4.45pm, said police spokeswoman Sergeant Zita Norman.
