Behind the scenes of The Lagoon, directed by Theo Davids, which will be screened at the film festival.
Western Cape film-makers will have a chance to screen their work for the public at a film festival in Lansdowne.
The Cape Flêts Fillim Festival will be held at the Academia Theatre on Saturday and Sunday June 15 and 16. It is organised by Gemini Twins Films, the National Film and Video Foundation and Bridgetown Theatre Company.
This is an opportunity for both new and experienced film-makers, says the festival’s production manager, Sebastian Petersen.
“CFFF was born out of a commitment to provide a platform to aspiring and seasoned film-makers to showcase film projects that are steeped in stories from the Western Cape. It will also expose audiences to films that represent the Western Cape demographics. The CFFF is a vibrant event. It's a fusion of live music, art, dance, culture, and film. Creating an atmosphere of warmth and a connection for attendees of all ages.”
The festival has award categories for short films, music videos, documentaries, animation and feature films, and there will be live music, comedy acts, and dance groups between the screenings.
Films selected for screening will be chosen by a committee that reviews the submissions. The deadline for submissions is before midnight on Friday May 24. Entry is free.
