Samantha Adams, of Athlone, has written her second book, Justice for a Warrior, part two of a non-fiction memoir describing her struggle against abuse.

Following on from Warrior Outside, Chaos Within, published in September 2022, it describes her painful memories of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse she suffered at the hands of her late father and how she overcame her despair to become a strong, assertive, brave woman ("Athlone woman’s book tells of her abusive childhood," Athlone News, September 7, 2022)

In the 93 pages of her latest book, published by Shofar Books, Ms Adams tells how she overcame trauma and found healing.

Several hurdles stood in the way of her completing the book, she says, including a car accident, a stroke and threats from someone connected to another alleged perpetrator she refers to in her book.

A court case against this individual, involving charges of sexual assault and drugging of a minor, is still pending, she says.

“However, I persevered through each obstacle, continuously adding new insights and material. Finally, it feels like the perfect moment to share this work with the world. All in all, I'd say it took me more than a year to write and rewrite it to its current state.”

Describing Justice for a Warrior as a beacon of hope, she adds, “This empowering memoir transcends personal trauma, focusing on the tools and strategies employed to embrace life to the fullest post-revelation. The narrative highlights that justice isn't confined to courtrooms; rather, it is found in the courageous act of reclaiming one's narrative.”

The book’s main message is that it is never too late to seek justice because just by doing so brings justice in its own way, she says.

The book is for anyone who has been told it’s too late to seek justice, for those who have felt defeated by traumatic experiences and anyone searching for hope, she says.

The official book launch will take place at the Social Bean Cafe in Rondebosch on Saturday June 29, at 2pm. To buy the book before the launch for R170, visit www.samanthakimberleyadams.co.za or call 060 418 7482.
