The City of Cape Town hosted the Bonte-Langa Struggle Tour to highlight Bonteheuwel and Langa’s shared history in the fight for human rights on Saturday May 18. The tour kicked off at Guga S’thebe Cultural Centre in Langa, followed by a walking tour of memorial sites in Langa and crossing the Bonte-Langa footbridge. There were also programmes at Bonteheuwel and Modderdam high schools. The tour ended at Bonteheuwel’s Freedom Square with entertainment.

Carmelita Truter is the niece of the late Christopher Truter, who was killed in 1976 in Bonteheuwel by apartheid police.
