Pupils at Cape Town High School learned about some of the opportunities available to them at the Rocking Future career expo, which visited the school in Hatfield Road on Thursday February 27.
The expos, by company 3RC which partners with universities to attend schools around South Africa, are dedicated to helping South African school leavers to choose the best career path, develop their skills and find employment in a country with a critically high youth unemployment rate.

The 2025 Rocking Future career expos took place at high schools across Gqeberha in January, and then toured Cape Town and Johannesburg. They will continue running across KwaZulu-Natal and Pretoria until May.
In 2024, the 3RC team spent five months touring South Africa with the expos. “This journey was nothing short of spectacular," said Kay Cheytanov, 3RC founder. “The level of engagement from students and educators exceeded our expectations. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, affirming the expo’s role in shaping future careers.”
On Thursday, representatives of 25 tertiary education institutions visited Cape Town High School to give pupils information and talk to them about their future careers.

Cape Town High School pupils Daniel Gallant,18 and Tshiamo Boshof, 18, said the experience gave them a sense of direction.
“It was a life changing experience knowing that there’s opportunities out there and not always focusing on the negative things, but knowing that there is possibility and opportunity for a better life out there,” said Daniel.
“This has given me a sense of direction that I want to go and do in life”, said Tshiamo.
Cheytanov said all the high schools who have decided to join the Rocking Future team this year have been invited to join their new initiative Success Starters - the search for an exceptional pupil who deserves to be recognised as the 2025 Success Starter Star"
