Manenberg SAPS arrested seven men and three women for various charges, including murder, robbery, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and for the possession of drugs.
These arrests, from separate incidents, form part of the station’s integrated crime prevention operation, which took place from Monday March 10 to Sunday March 16.
On Sunday March 16, a 35-year-old woman was arrested for armed robbery. Police also confiscated a .38 revolver with six rounds of ammunition from the woman. The serial number had been filed off.
In a separate incident, a 24-year-old man was arrested for the illegal possession of a 9mm pistol with eight rounds of ammunition, during a stop-and-search operation.
A 30-year-old man was also arrested on Sunday for an outstanding murder case currently being investigated.
On Saturday March 15, four men, aged from 22 to 33 years, and a 31-year-old woman were arrested for the possession of drugs in five separate incidents. A total of 28 units of heroin
12 units of tik three-and-a-half mandrax tablets were confiscated.
On Thursday March 13, while Law Enforcement officers were patrolling in Pam Court, they approached a 22-year-old man, who upon seeing the officers approach him, dropped something. When investigated, they found a weapon replicating a gun (zip gun) with one .38 round. The man was arrested.
On Wednesday March 12, a 30-year-old woman was arrested for perjury.
Manenberg SAPS spokesperson, Captain Ian Bennett, said: “She opened a theft case knowing that the missing items were part of a divorce settlement agreement. Our seasoned detectives scrutinise case dockets and will investigate thoroughly.”
On Monday March 10, an 18-year-old man was arrested for the possession of a CZ 9mm pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition. The Anti Gang Unit members followed up on information received and on searching an address in The Downs Road the firearm was found in his possession.
