The Bridgetown Theatre Company (BTC) is excited to perform a new dramedy “We strive“ at schools as from Thursday.
The new drama and comedy will be performed at Western Cape schools and is free.
The show is about a caring school principal who wants to create a safe school environment for teaching and learning, but discovers resistance from teachers and pupils.
We strive is a 40-minute theatre production that can performed at a schools within a school period and in any space at a school during school hours.

The production stars Claire Daphne Smith, Newtone Jantjies, Marceline Andrea, Aviwe Hlakanyana, Enrique Lameyer, Bjorn Lotterie, and Thembalethu Zwele.
Claire Daphne' Smith is an actor, singer, dancer from Athlone. Her passion for the performing arts industry started in Grade 6 and carries on to this day. It all started when she performed as one of the children in one of her favorite musicals - The sound of music. She said her motto has always been "take the risk or lose the chance.”
Production coordinator Zion Theron said because of the current violence and bullying in schools the cast wanted to help to do something about it, therefore they decided teach drama, dance, and music free of charge at Bridgetown High school; Athlone High school; Eros High School and Bridgeville Primary School.
The topics range from bullying, violence, drugs, gangsters, disrespect and vape smoking. The pupils performed their musical plays for their fellow pupils during school assemblies from Wednesday March 19.
"By utilizing the performing arts they helped the students to realize that 'nothing about us is going to happen without us.' Subsequently, they developed one 30-minute musical play at each school – with the help of the learners, principal and teachers - pertaining to social issues at the respective schools," he said.
