The Princess Vlei Forum welcomes the onset of the construction of a pathway around Princess Vlei (“New trail at Princess Vlei”, Southern Mail, April 2).
A circulatory trail has been high on the community's wish list for 15 years.
Forum members John Prince, an engineer, and Malcolm Campbell, a landscape architect, mapped out a possible route, which the City of Cape Town developed to the current plan.
The walkway is a great example of what can happen when the community and City work together.
We believe it will hugely improve the accessibility and community value of the Greater Princess Vlei Conservation Area, and will help in making the community aware of the rich biodiversity and indigenous flora and fauna of this space.
