Various golfers, philanthropists, and changemakers in the early childhood development sector supported the Early Learning Resource Unit’s (ELRU) charity golf day held at Rondebosch Golf Club earlier this month.
The Lansdowne-based non-profit organisation's golf day was held to raise funds to support its ongoing work in early childhood development (ECD) and practitioner training.
ELRU CEO, Tracy Fortune, said that quality early learning breaks cycles of poverty and builds a generation that’s confident, capable, and connected.
“Thanks to the generosity of our golfers and sponsors, thousands of children will gain access to the foundational education they deserve,” she said.
South African cricket legend Vernon Philander also took part in the golf day, playing in support of the Vernon Philander Foundation.
He said it is always a great day when you can enjoy good golf and good company, all while supporting something meaningful.
“When we invest in the early years, whether through learning, nutrition, or mentorship, we are laying the foundation for healthier, more resilient communities. If each of us does a little, it adds up to something powerful,” he said.
