Food relief non-profit Ladles of Love and its food franchise partner delivered over 4000 brand-new storybooks to early childhood development (ECD) centres in the province at the end of last month.
They delivered books to six ECD centres, including Happy Feet Educare, Uthando Daycare and Khula Educare in Delft, We Care Educare in Bonteheuwel, Ukhanyo Child Development in Khayelitsha, and Anne’s Toddlers in Lotus River.
A statement by Ladles of Love said the collaboration between them and the food franchise partner forms part of the organisation's “Advancing Education through Nutrition Roadshow", using its established network across underserved communities to facilitate mother-tongue reading at ECD level.
Ladles of Love programme director, Yolanda Jones, said: "With the right fuel for their bodies and the right tools for their minds, we're ensuring that no child is left behind due to the circumstances of their birth," she said.
