As has been the case over the years, the 17th edition of the DSTV Mitchell’s Plain Festival, at Westridge Gardens, over the weekend, did not disappoint.

Close to 30 000 festival goers gathered at the gardens for a fun-filled weekend of good food, funky sounds, and some of the Mother City’s freshest artists appearing on the main stage. No doubt, the three-day extravaganza was just what the doctor ordered, a welcome break from what can be described as a rough year for the people of the Plain.

Iqra Whiteboy, 5, from Tafelsig, brings big energy and big jumps to the Sasko Siyasizana 1000-block hopscotch court at the weekend’s DStv Mitchell’s Plain Festival at Westridge Gardens. It’s part of a Sasko initiative that focuses on improving playgrounds in schools and daycare centres.
