Two men were shot dead in Manenberg, with the motive for the attack still unknown.
Manenberg police registered two counts of murder following a shooting in Thames Avenue at about 7am on Thursday, January 15. The victims, a man, 50, and a man, 53, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies and were declared dead at the scene, said provincial police spokesperson Captain F.C. Van Wyk.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, and the motive for the attack forms part of the police inquiry. The suspects fled the scene, and no arrests have been made, he said.
Secretary of Manenberg Community Monitors Neighbourhood Watch and Secretary of Section 1, Tresslyn Bailey, confirmed the incident as he was at the scene. “This is an unfortunate event and may have been gang-related.”
