At the start of the school year, a total of 900 essential items — 300 stationery packs, 300 pairs of school shoes, and 300 backpacks — were donated to pupils at The Leadership College’s Primary School campus in Manenberg.
The donation, handed over on Wednesday, January 14, was made by Muslim Hands South Africa in partnership with the school, aimed to support pupils from economically vulnerable households and give them a confident start to the year.
The initiative was led by Sayed Ibnul Hasan, country director, with support from Ahmad Solomons, programme director. The partnership was facilitated by Dr Yasien Ryklief, head of operations and community engagement at the Two Oceans Graduate Institute, and Shuaib Patel, head of human resources.

“Meaningful change is achieved when institutions work together with a shared purpose. This initiative reflects the power of collaboration in removing barriers to learning and creating environments where every pupil has the opportunity to succeed with confidence and dignity,” said Dr Ryklief.
Principal of TLC Junior Campus, Saadiq Albertyn, said: “Seeing the joy and pride on our pupils’ faces was a powerful reminder that dignity is foundational to educational success. This support goes far beyond material assistance — it restores confidence, nurtures hope, and inspires our pupils to believe in their futures.”
