A 25-year-old Bonteheuwel father of two, Shadrack Williams, was gunned down last night in Vlamboom Street.
Ward councillor Angus McKenzie said early indications revealed that “it was not a gang-related shooting”.
“However, the manner in which he was killed indicates that he was targeted,” said Mr McKenzie.
Shocked residents in the street said Mr Williams had just arrived at his home when two vehicles had pulled up beside him.
It is alleged that one suspect, with a silver pistol, walked up to the window of the car and proceeded to shoot at Mr Williams, who was sitting inside the vehicle.
Mr William’s youngest child is just a year old.
“My thoughts and prays go out to his family and children. My hope is that those who saw (what happened) will provide SAPS with the relevant information to ensure a swift arrest and justice to be served,” Mr McKenzie said.
Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, said they are investigating a case of murder.
“Bishop Lavis police are hard at work pursuing leads in a bid to apprehend the suspects who are responsible for the death of a 25-year-old man,” he said.
“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.”
