Manenberg police arrested a 23-year-oldman on Wednesday May 2 for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Members of the City’s Stabilisation Unit attached to the Gang and Drug Task Team deployed in Manenberg responded to a
ShotSpotteralert,ataround 4.30am. En route, the officers noticed a suspicious looking man in Scheldt Walk.
They pursued him on foot and found a 9mm pistol and five bullets hidden in a body holster underneath his clothes when they stopped and searched him.
The man was arrested and detained at Manenberg police station.
Manenberg police are looking for another man who was in the possession of a gun on Thursday May 3 in Manenberg.
Metro police officers were conducting stop-and-search operations in the area when they noticed a man on the corner of Aubrey Court, at 3.30pm, acting suspiciously.
When the suspect saw the officers approach him, he dropped a firearm and ran away.
The officers found a 9mm Vector pistol and 15 live bullets.
The firearm was booked in at Manenberg police station.
