The Kewtown Concerned Residents hosted their annual lunch for 180 seniors at the Calvinist Church hall on Saturday December 8. The event is in its 18th year, and was started by Vera Eksteen, a teacher at Athlone North Primary School and Amelia Lakay, a community leader. Doreen Slingers, a former teacher at Cypress Primary, also joined the team. The organising team approached their colleagues, family and friends to help make this event possible, as they receive no funding for it. The event, which started off in a double classroom, has grown in numbers over the years.
