Bishop Lavis police arrested three men on gun charges last Friday.
Officers acting on a tip-off arrested a 39-year-old man after they found a 9mm pistol and 20 bullets at a house in Mohogany Street, Bonteheuwel, at 4pm, said Bishop Lavis police spokeswoman Sergeant Samantha Adonis.
As officers drove away from the house, they heard shots fired in the T-block of Bonteheuwel and confronted a 44-year-old man in Terblans Road who was allegedly found carrying a 9mm pistol and 20 bullets.
A few minutes later, she said, police responded to shots fired in Jakes Gerwel Drive and saw a man running and shooting. They cornered the 40-year-old man in a yard and seized another 9mm pistol with four rounds.
