Ward 60 councillor, Mark Kleinschmidt, with Noegh Crombie, at Garlandale Park.
As Ward 60 councillor, I wish to congratulate pensioner Noegh Crombie, a retired architect, on the sterling agape work he has done to uplift Garlandale Park. (“Pensioner transforms Garlandale Park” (Athlone News, February 8).
He went about quietly, firstly, planting plants around the perimeter of the park fence, thereafter upgrading the toilets, all at his own expense. Mr Crombie stays clear of the limelight and goes about the upgrading and maintenance work.
From my ward allocation, the gym equipment and the lights were installed.
Mr Crombie is a model citizen and a huge encouragement to our community.
Best wishes to him and the neighbourhood volunteers.
I recently visited Mr Crombie and he shared his vision with me. We also discussed partnering with the City of Cape Town's Recreation and Parks, regarding the Garlandale Park.
