Hout Bay Tai Chi students impress at national championships

Hout Bay Tai Chi master, Sifu (teacher) Xiong Changsen takes the number one spot on the podium to collect one of five gold medals at the weekend’s national Wushu championships, at UCT.

Hout Bay Tai Chi master, Sifu (teacher) Xiong Changsen and his students represented the Western Cape at the South African Wushu Federation's 2023 Championships, held at UCT, at the weekend, collectively winning 27 medals in total.

The team also impressed at last year's national championships in Roodepoort, Gauteng, winning 30 medals in total.

Xiong says Tai Chi is a flowing and graceful Chinese martial art that promotes physical and mental well-being in people of all ages and that anybody can learn to master it.
