Watsonia’s Abduragmaan Darries makes an attacking play that led to a try in the weekend’s game against Sir Lorians.
Watsonia have put themselves in a strong position to secure promotion to Super League C following a hard-fought victory over Sir Lowrians at the weekend.
The match, held at Vygieskraal, was a crucial clash in the top nine, with Watsonia edging out the visitors 27-23.
This win not only extended Watsonia’s lead at the top of the nine-team league but also increased their advantage to 14 points, placing them three ahead of second-placed Albions
Sir Lowrians fell to fourth place with their nine points.
The victory marked Watsonia's third win in the mini-league and highlighted their ability to secure crucial wins in tight matches.
Watsonia’s next challenge will be another significant test as they face Delft this coming weekend. A win against Delft could bring Watsonia closer to securing their promotion, but they will be up against a determined side eager to fight for their own promotion hopes. With only three promotion spots up for grabs and five teams putting daylight between them and the bottom half teams, the stakes are high and the competition fierce.
Delft, currently in third place with 10 points, have played only three games so far.
Violets have eight points in their two games and are also in contention for promotion. The league's competitive nature is evident, with all five of these teams, Watsonia, Albions, Sir Lowrians, Delft, and Violets actively vying for one of the three promotion spots available.
