This is only the start, the best is yet to come, said VOB coach, Kevin Johnson, following his side's win against Bellville Tygers, at the weekend.

Johnson, along with Jody Burch jointly guided VOB Macaws to victory for the second time in two days to clinch the Cape Town Major League Play-off title.

VOB won the first of the best out of three finals 8-1 at the PP Smit sports complex on Saturday and went on to beat Tygers for the second time 11-5.

Burch said the success his side has enjoyed is part of an ongoing plan, which started three years ago by nurturing young talent.

Johnson said watching 18-year-old Josh November on the mound, pitching to seasoned campaigners on Sunday, bears testimony to their commitment in growing the sport.

“We started with Damain Perkins who pitched for five frames in the second match and then introduced November which shows our commitment to expose youngsters at this level. We are excited with the success of our commitment in developing the game. So yes, the best is yet to come. Our next goal is the League title,” said  Johnson.
