Former players and members of Bonteheuwel's Thistles RFC club hosted its inaugural Youth Day rugby 7s junior tournament at the Metropolitan sports field, on Monday, June 16.
The mini-tournament, played in wet and slippery conditions, featured four primary schools of Bonteheuwel competing for a floating trophy in the age groups under-9 and under-11.
The participating schools that took to the pitch in what the organisers hope will become an annual event were Mimosa, Bergsig, Boundary, and Klipfontein primary schools.

Thistles RFC club members Leon Conrad, Kevin Cedras and Gerald Jansen are among the former players who helped to organise its inauguarl Youth Day primary schools 7s mini-tournament.
