Hamediehs were heading into this past weekend eager to snap a three-game losing streak following a blistering start to the season.

After winning their opening four encounters, hopes were high that they could make a run for promotion spots. However, despite falling just short, the team showed plenty of fight in a closely contested Super League B showdown at the weekend.

At Vygieskraal, the Athlone side welcomed Vineyards and grabbed the first points of the game with an early sixth-minute try.

It was a confident start, and they carried that composure into the rest of the first half but ended up trailing 15–21 at the break. Their attacking flair produced three tries over the weekend, but the four scored by the visitors ultimately proved decisive as Vineyards emerged with a 25–29 victory.

The loss was a bitter pill to swallow. Not only did it extend Hamediehs’ losing run to four matches in Super League B, but it came on the heels of another narrow defeat, the previous weekend’s heartbreaking one-point loss against Bellville.

Although the first team fell short, the club experienced mixed results elsewhere. The second team secured a solid 34–19 triumph, the thirds narrowly lost 7–13 and the under-20s came out on top with a 19–12 win.

Looking ahead, Hamediehs will take the field again when they travel to Collegians. A win there would be vital as they seek to reclaim the confidence of their early-season form and make a push toward the promotion spots.

Elsewhere in the league, top-of-the-log Goodwood got their seventh win of the season in nine outings with a 37–29 win over Hamlets.

Belhar secured a 35–24 victory against CPUT, while Kylemore remains winless after falling 22–34 to Collegians. Primrose beat Bellville 38–31, and Kraaifontein stayed close to the front-runners with a dominant 46–15 win over Hands and Heart.
