Members of the Athlone-based Rhythmic Salaagh Gymnastic Club will participate in the high-performance national competition, held in Belhar on Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28, at the Belhar indoor sports complex.

Rhythmic gymnastics is one of seven gymnastic disciplines, combining elements of dance, gymnastics, and the manipulation of handheld apparatus, including ribbons, hoops, balls, clubs, and ropes. It can be performed by individuals or groups on a floor exercise area, incorporating routines that showcase flexibility, strength, balance, and artistry.

In South Africa, the sport is governed by Gymnastics South Africa, to which Cape Town Gymnastics is affiliated. The club has training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4,30 to 6.30, at Turhall indoor hall. Call Rashida Abrahams on 082 450 2711
