The return of the Killarney Motorshow hosted by the City of Cape Town on Sunday, November 2, is said to be the biggest one yet, if all goes according to plan, said the organisers.
The event has become one of the Western Cape's premier motoring events in recent years and has seemingly raised the stakes to higher levels with each year.
Details of this year’s show were confirmed at a media launch held at Killarney International Raceway on Thursday, October 16 where the full programme was laid out by Killarney International Raceway Executive Manager Des Easom.
What Easom stressed at the launch was how inclusive the event is, not strictly catering for the high-speed enthusiasts but focusing on all fans interested in everything related to motorshows, be it motorbikes, classic cars, speed machines, and carts for the young riders.
"Every year we strive for inclusivity and we have made plans for this event to be an even bigger one and catering for all ages," he said.
The show runs from 10am until 4pm and during those times, there will be drift car rides, circuit passenger laps, off-road experiences, and karting.
Drifting is one of the most anticipated showings of the Motor Show.

It’s a showcase of Cape Town’s motoring culture that combines racing and entertainment, think of Du Noon cultural dance also providing the vibe in between the car shows.
Kicking off the on-track action will be passenger rides in drift cars, starting with a drag-style launch early in the day. Throughout the day, vintage tractor rides will operate on the Tygerberg Straight, giving showgoers a more relaxed way to experience the venue.
The 4x4 village will be busy with Maniac 4x4 demonstrations and passenger experiences, running all day. Meanwhile, the high-speed zone will feature passenger rides in race-prepped E36 Cup cars across four sessions, along with short high-speed traction rides scheduled before and after lunch.
Test drives from major vehicle dealers will also take place at intervals in the speed arena, while members of the public can get behind the wheel themselves during the afternoon karting sessions on Killarney’s one-kilometre karting circuit, which opens from 1.30pm until 6pm.
Off the track, more than 2,000 vehicle displays are expected including exotic brands like Porsche and Jaguar, classic car restorations and motoring memorabilia.
Tickets are available online via Webtickets at R130 for adults, with discounts for pensioners and under-16s. Children under 12 enter free. Gate prices will be slightly higher on the day.
