Delron crowned Cape Dance Your Style champ

Kraaifontein’s Delron Davids, 26, originally from Johannesburg, will represent the Mother City in next month’s Red Bull national Dance Your Style finals in Bloemfontein.

A previous regional winner, Delron, claimed top spot at the Cape Town qualifier, held at The Terrace Rooftop, in Salt River, at the weekend, showcasing his smooth dance moves and fancy footwork.

Delron flexed his smooth moves, crisp footwork, and killer stage presence to claim the top spot, coming out on top in a fiery final battle against Strandfontein’s Tyler Botha. The crowd went wild, and it was clear: Delron was in the zone.

Dance Your Style is pure street vibes — one-on-one battles, no choreo, music picked on the spot. It’s all about reading the track, showing personality, and making the crowd go “wow.”

Success depends on how well dancers adapt to unexpected tracks while winning over the audience through creativity, musicality, and stage presence.

Saturday’s event began with an open dance session featuring more than 40 hopefuls competing for a place in the top 16 knockout rounds. As the battles intensified, Delron and Tyler eventually fought their way to the final in what proved one of the afternoon’s standout showdowns.

Reflecting on his win, the newly-crowned Cape Town champ praised the standard of competition and the spirit among the dancers.

“I want to expose myself to different genres of music, listen to my body more, and just enjoy doing what I love,” he said.

“Everyone came ready, and we pushed each other in every round,” he said. “Facing Tyler in the final was an honour. He’s an incredible dancer, and I would have been just as happy if he had taken the win.”
