Owing to popular demand, CHICAGO - The Musical is back and heading to the Mother City later this year.

CHICAGO -the award-winning Broadway and West End musical will be on stage at Artscape Theatre from 27 August to 28 September 2025.

CHICAGO received rave reviews and nightly standing ovations throughout all previous sold-out seasons in Cape Town and Johannesburg. “CHICAGO is one of the most successful productions ever staged in South Africa – and the demand for its return is unwavering,” said Hazel Feldman, CHICAGO’s SA Producer.

A nightclub singer, a double-murderess, a smooth-talking lawyer and a cell block of sin surrounded by the razzle dazzle of the world’s sexiest musical You’ve got it Comin’ as the story of CHICAGO unfolds to show-stopping songs including All that Jazz, Cell Block Tango and Mister Cellophane.

Produced by Showtime Management in association with Barry & Fran Weissler, CHICAGO has a combined South African and international creative team including Associate Director, Tânia Nardini and re-creation of New York production choreography by Gary Chryst, both of whom have staged CHICAGO across multiple continents.

Award-winning South African Musical Director, Kevin Kraak (The Lion King, CHICAGO, My Fair Lady) will lead the 11-piece orchestra and the sexy, stylish ensemble will once again.

Winner of six Tonys, two Oliviers, one Grammy, two Baftas and six Academy Awards, CHICAGO is the longest-running musical revival in Broadway history.

It’s no surprise that this devilishly delicious musical has brought cheering audiences to their feet all around the world. From Australia to Argentina, from Spain to South Africa more than 34 million people have seen CHICAGO, which has played over 35 000 performances worldwide across 38 countries in more than 525 cities.

Owing to strong adult themes and profanities, this production has a PG rating 10+. Parental guidance is advised.

Following the Cape Town run of the show, the musical will head to Montecasino’s Teatro in Johannesburg from 3 October to 9 November 2025.
